The Rechter Center Celebrates 100 years of Architecture
Thu 19 September 2019 – Sat 21 September 2019 | 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm
All over Tel Aviv – Tel Aviv
As part of the 2019 Open House Festival, the Rechter Center for Architecture will celebrate 100 years of the architectural and cultural work of the Rechter Office for its generations.
The Richter Center curated a series of nine events throughout Tel Aviv, including fascinating tours, in-depth discussions and an exhibition. In the totality of events, the value and role of architecture in civil, cultural and urban life will be discussed, both in its historical aspects, and in looking to the present and future possibilities.
The buildings that we will tour have been designed by three
generations for nearly a century, beginning with the arrival of Ze’ev
(Wa) and Paula Rechter on Eretz Israel aboard the “Ruslan” ship in
December 1919. Ze’ev immediately began his planning work, the first work
he received to measure Allenby Street in Tel Aviv. . Over the years,
Ze’ev designed hundreds of buildings in and out of the city and became
one of the most prominent and important architects of his time.
Continuers strive to innovate and dare, and also maintain a
quality and well-deserved planning tradition .
The buildings and spaces we will tour play a significant role in Tel Aviv urbanism, including apartments, public buildings, urban plans and neighborhoods, each of which is a reflection of a period as well as a unique worldview of planning and culture.
