Herodian Buildings in Israel

Herod spent his life with many huge building projects, like Second temple in Jerusalem, Herod’s Palace in Jerusalem, Temple Mount, Robinson’s Arch, Antonia Fortress, Royal Stoa (Jerusalem), Roman public facilities, Renovation of the Pool of Siloam, theater, amphitheater, hippodrome in Jerusalem, Jerusalem water channel, Jerusalem pilgrim road, Herodium, Palace-fortress, Herod’s Tomb, palace-fortress at Masada, Caesarea Maritima with its palace and harbor, Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, Three Winter Palaces in Jericho and the Three temples dedicated to Augustus (at Sebaste, Caesarea, and Panias).

Many of his additional building projects (like the theater, amphitheater, hippodrome in Jerusalem and others) are not found, yet.

For those who are interested in a mini-tour of all the known surviving Herod’s buildings, let me know. Contact Wim and you have a tour.
